During peer review, trial methods are examined for standards and the interpretation of the results are validated, but the actual data from the trial is often accepted as fact. Falsifying data from a trial is far more prevalent than you may believe. Also keep in mind, that influential peer reviewers are paid for their rubber stamp review.

Tylenol is one of the most tested and studied drugs of all time. Lawsuit risk is too high to pump out known dangerous drugs. As an executive of a large company, not in drugs though, I can tell you we avoid litigious situations at nearly any cost. There is no risk/reward scenario that pays off to kill your customers - cigarette industry is an outlier.

Granted, these are in the minority, however, I could use the argument that the makers of Tylenol would gladly pay to glaze over these types of studies to avoid enormous lawsuits and, unfortunately, there are plenty of medical researchers that would be more than happy to take a bunch of money to do all they could do to cast doubt on these trials and studies.

My son's former college roommate does these studies. Not on Tylenol but on other things. He's in it for the research. No one makes big money that way. They make money trying to find something new with the rest of their time. They do these trial studies to pay the ongoing bills while they look for a break out product. They dont make enough on it to "throw" a study. The payments dont work like that. Someone hires a company and the company puts young people on the research. You cant keep secrets. Everything is tracked.

The politicians are the liars. Not the scientists.
