True, but the real solution is not to add to them with a third party which would only serve democrat's ends, but to reinvent the GOP itself, get the tired riff-raff out like McConnell, and put fighters in there driven to make America great instead of sitting back, riding the coattails of democrats, and collecting all the gravy that lands in your lap by being a "good guy" who doesn't make waves and just "gets along" with the establishment.

The GOP was bad back in 2005? That was the era of Bob Dole and his ilk--- the very lifeblood of what many republicans today say they miss and want to get back to. 20 years ago, I would not say the GOP was bad, just had their heads firmly planted up their own asses.

And some of those old Bush era republicans are still in congress today.

People retire or pass away. Even better if voters just replace them.

We already have independents and more often than not, they either support no party or support the democrats.

We have (or should have) competition between the two parties. That is the problem, not enough competition and just one uniparty. But create a third party? It will just morph into being more good ol' boys. The one thing Trump has proven is that we don't need another party, we just need better moral moorings. We can have good, honest competition (like we are beginning to get now) by simply electing more good, honest people who actually put America first and we have that in MAGA.

Creating a third party simply dilutes more votes away from MAGA and would make every election won by an even smaller majority of people making a win by democrats just that much easier, not harder.

You are arguing theory, but theory is just a theory. Look at what effect Ross Perot had--- he drained enough votes away from the GOP candidate to allow Bill Clinton to get into office instead.

In fact, there are those who maintain that he was a plant by the democrats put there just for that purpose.
