The proposed trial date also potentially conflicts with Trump's trial in New York on charges of falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels days before the 2016 presidential election.
That trial is currently scheduled to begin March 25. A spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney's office told ABC News they would not comment on another jurisdiction's request.
I wonder if there is any case law on something like this. Normally, feds either convince states to put their cases on hold pending the federal cases, or feds decide to let the state run with their cases, hoping to gather more evidence to use in the federal case.
This filing of multiple cases in multiple states, at the same time as the federal prosecutions in order to meet an election timeline-based deadline is something never before - and hopefully never again - seen in this country. Even in the banana republics that typically use this kind of electioneering, I believe that it is the central Junta who runs the show, with no deference to any provinces that might also have cases.
