Family of Ky. boy says justice has not been served after man convicted of his stabbing death released
In 2015, Ronald Exantus traveled from Indianapolis to Versailles, where he committed a series of stabbings.
In 2015, Ronald Exantus traveled from Indianapolis to Versailles, where he committed a series of stabbings. Those stabbings resulted in the death of 6-year-old Logan Tipton and injuries to his father and two sisters.
“He stood up with me on top of him. Just stood up and threw me 10 to 15 feet across the room and went after [my daughter], said Dean Tipton, father to Logan Tipton.
The family states it was a freak incident, emphasizing they had no connection to Exantus. They say he gained access to their house through an unlocked door.
Dean Tipton says December 7, 2015, is a night that changed his family’s life. He says his children woke him up; he then found a man attacking his children.
“When I got to the top of the stairs, he attacked me with a knife,” said
The night took a tragic turn with the loss of a life, his six-year-old son, Logan. Dean says that immediately after Logan’s death, he lost his will to live.
“I just laid in bed. I gave up on life. I gave up on my family. I gave up on everybody. I just wanted to die,” said Tipton.
In the years since, the family has done their best to cope, but mentions they are mentally and emotionally scarred. The family is hurt that Ronald Exantus will no longer be behind bars.
“Everybody deserves to have a fighting chance to have justice for them, but it is not,” said Phyllis Tipton, Logan’s grandmother.
- Ronald Exantus was found guilty but mentally ill for stabbing Logan Tipton’s father and sisters.
- Ronald Exantus was found not guilty by reason of insanity for the murder of Logan Tipton.
- Exantus was sentenced to 20 years in prison (10 years for each second-degree assault charge and one year for a fourth-degree assault, running concurrently).
- He became eligible for parole in December 2019 due to credit for time served.
Darn KY, I expected better from you....A insanity plea....Really?
Ronald Exantus, a dialysis nurse....So he wasn't crazy as a dialysis nurse?
Lazy prosecution is more like it.
