And yet, there are those smug self-righteous Europeans who look down their noses at us when some of us in the US say it should be modified here.

Britain does not automatically give British citizenship to people born in the country, contrary to online suggestions.
Social media posts in January implied Britain should follow U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to abolish birthright citizenship.
Birthright citizenship, which is part of the U.S. Constitution, opens new tab, means anyone born in the country is considered a citizen at birth.
"In one of his first acts as President again, Trump revoked birthright citizenship to end the right to citizenship for the children of immigrants born in the US," said the Jan. 21 post on Facebook, opens new tab. "Should the UK do the same?"

Birthright citizenship for people who entered our country illegally is not in the constitution.
Hopefully the U.S. Supreme Court will straighten this out.

A lot of countries require additional steps or qualifications on citizenship but those countries do no not have the 14th amendment. I am all for modifying it as soon as we repeal that part of the Constitution. We are long overdue for a convention. It could be exciting and fun.

You must learn to stand on your own two feet , American Fatties .
Stop living in awe of the British, however good and happy we might be .

See us as a your role model -- obviously -- but have the courage to start leading instead of following and deferring .

Which smug ones?

We know how citizenship works in the UK, I would say most Americans couldn't point out where Europe is on a map -
