Nah, we don’t. In fact, we spent most of US history without huge corporations. One big corporation is just as good as a lot of small businesses.
China is in a catch-22. They are going after high end manufacturing, and have become exporters of high end sophisticated CNC machines and tooling. But they are doing so for hard currency, because most of their domestic market can't afford high end machinery.
