Health officials have confirmed they are facing an outbreak of the “eye-bleeding fever” after four people died of the suspected disease in weeks. Uganda’s health ministry has today finally admitted it is facing the risk of a large-scale explosion of the viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF). VHF causes victims to suffer a burning fever before beginning to bleed from orifices including their eyes, anuses and mouths.

Don't know if it's the same thing, but it sounds similar to the dengue hemorrhagic fever that we have here in Central America. Theirs is caused by tick bites, ours is caused by mosquito bites. Our friend is dying from it as we speak. He thought he had the flu and went to the doctor. They treated him for severe allergies and then he started bleeding from his orifices. He's on his deathbed now. All of this happened within one week.

Scientists say as many as 15 million people - an estimated 80 per cent of population - were killed when an epidemic known as cocoliztli swept Mexico's Aztec nation in 1545.​
