How about this question, "how come these same UN members wag the figure and feign moral superiority for standing up for Palestine but NONE of them recognize Taiwan as an independent nation"?

I understand balancing state interests but damn despise cowardice. There is no characteristic in humans that riles me up more than a coward. It's why I admire courage so much.

If all of the Arab nations in the Middle East were say, Jewish nations and Palestine was the only Muslim nation in the region, NONE of these nations would recognize them. They see domestic votes with such a position (with so many European nations now housing a large Muslim population) and bribes/relationships they can engage in with their arab friends in the region. This is one method to espouse camaraderie with these arab nations.

They really don't have any deep connection with principle, if they did, they'd be demanding human rights in China and Africa with the same fervor.

I want peace in Gaza. I am in spirit supportive of a Two State solution because in the long run it is the most pragmatic way forward for our species. How and in what form this occurs is beyond my pay grade because it's a very complicated issue, one Rabin and Arafat seemed to be settling before his assassination.

I don't want to hear of even one Jew or Muslim in the region dying, G-d wants us to live in peace. The future as G-d demands depends on world peace among other issues. Yes, an idealistic way of viewing the world and I'm not immune to the complexity of such a scenario. Just wishing it to be doesn't mean it will just emerge out of the wishful thinking.

That doesn't mean I should pretend that I don't have more in common with my Jewish brothers and sisters than I do other beliefs in the region. I was raised on Judeo-Christian beliefs even if we weren't overly religious (I found my own path, though I did go to Sunday for a period when I lived with my grandparents as they were religious). Hell, my mom used to express many Yiddish/Hebrew terms often lol, she picked it up from her time in high school in Toronto, a largely Jewish community which she was exposed to. I didn't even know their origins, I just used them often myself.

We should want peace and the world should be demanding the release of hostages and a settled agreement. No more Hamas ruling there, Palestine can elect a real government that cares for them and doesn't spread hatred against it;s neighbours.

There must be an acceptance of Israel as a nation before any real path forward can occur. It's going to be difficult with the hard feelings from this war, on both sides. Nearly 1000 IDF have also died don't forget, both are receiving black eyes. Ultimately G-d may ask, "for what"?
