Explain the difference and historical context between the "US constitution" and "the declaration of Independence"?

The founding fathers signed the "declaration of Independence" but was it at the same time the fundament of the US Constitution or this is something completely else?

There are Four Organic Laws of the United States which form the framework for all America Law:
  1. The Declaration of Independence.
  2. The Articles of Confederation (of the original 13 colonies).
  3. The United States Constitution, and
  4. The Northwest Ordinance.
So the two you mention were half of the Four Organic Laws.

Thank you, that is probably much to study and learn to understand these.

Well, I bet if you spent just 30 minutes glancing over the Wikipedia links on those four headings, you would have a very good grasp of the basics! Probably better than a lot of Americans! If you understand those four things, you understand 90% of America.

The Declaration of Independence told the British to "Fuck off."

The Constitution told the people "You're free now."

The Declaration of Independence is not law
It provides founding principles and justification for independence but nothing enforceable

The Declaration of Independence was a statement to the British Government. The Constitution is the framework for the governance of our country.

There are only Two, that is Two documents we look to as our founding documents, you mentioned both.

If you want or need anything more the Federalist Papers explain everything.

And, reading good biographies about our Founders is maybe the best way to understand the founding of the USA.
