Congress dictates security for the Capitol building and grounds is theirs legally, by law.

The president needs permission

Did trump get a permit to send his rally goers down to the Capitol as required? Nope! He wanted it to be a surprise and secret, ahead of the planned event.

By him not notifying park services and getting permits, no one knew about the march to the Capitol.

So they did not have the proper security for this last second event. If he had gotten the permits for the march and capitol protest, who knows how many security personnel and NGuard, would have been assigned or on standby as a quick response.....?

And with thinking the rally was over two miles away at the Ellipse, and not knowing Trump was going to send his rally goers to the Capitol, why in the world would the Capitol police think they would be needed, huh?

The rally of hundreds of thousands was two miles away, with numerous FBI CiA Secret Service and Capitol Police officials observing yet the democrats were so incompetent they claim they had no idea of the size or any movement of the crowd

A two mile walk takes one hour. Pelosi had the length of time of the speech which was a hour and at least another hour of walking as a warning yet Pelosi did nothing.

Then of course the metro police accepted the offer of national guard days before yet Pelosi said no at the same meeting. Or at least those in the meeting that do report directly to Pelosi
