“Everyone Should Start Preparing For This... Thomas Sowell”

“Everyone Should Start Preparing For This....l Thomas Sowell” - They told you tariffs would destroy the economy. They told you foreign partnerships were sacred. They told you Donald Trump didn’t understand trade. But now—just months after the media assured us he was politically finished—he’s back at the negotiating table, and this time, he’s rewriting the rules in a way they never thought possible.On July 2nd, 2025, with almost no media fanfare, Trump announced a groundbreaking trade deal with Vietnam: 20% tariffs on all imports, 40% on transshipped goods—which are China’s favorite loophole—and in return, Vietnam will allow American exports in tariff-free. It’s a masterstroke of economic nationalism disguised as diplomacy. But here’s the part that should stop you cold: the press barely mentioned it.

Commentary:
What's better than Thomas Sowell?
Sowell has always defended free trade and often warned against tariffs.
So hearing him champion Trump’s Vietnam deal as a strategic, dignity-based doctrine would mark a radical shift. Either the ground is moving—or someone wants us to think it already has.
Thomas Sowell is one of the greatest thinkers of all time, and he is spot on again.
A true American patriot, scholar and expert! May it please God to grant him health, prosperity and a voice for the next 30 years.

Just what is to prepare? Am I missing something?

Now I'm more convinced than ever that "you get the same deal we get" is the correct trade/tax policy.

You do realize that Viet Nam is like 1/1000 of 1% of US trade, right?

If tariffs were not so big, They could fund the national system. However, since USA politicians are addicted to funding mass slaughters around the world; They have to cut back on basic services to the American People, and jack up taxes any way they can.

Or cut spending. Get rid of programs that the Federal government has no Constitutional mandate to control. If your State wants to tax the shit out of you to provide these services vote for it.

Also, it is unconstitutional for the president to raise taxes or tariffs on us, without Congress voting.

No taxation, without representation.

He is suppose to go to Congress and ask permission to negotiate tariffs and they vote on it.

Trump went to Congress in his first term as president, but Congress voted NO. They voted No on giving him that leeway and power.

Now, this time as President, The Man of Lawlessness, decided to ignore the Constitution and not even ASK Congress for permission.

The Supreme Court heard the case argued yesterday.

~~~~~~
Indeed, Trump wants to cut ten old regulations for every new one.
That s part of DOGE...
You can see that in the latest EPA move to get rid of law that was never created in Congress by with in EPA itself.
Free trade does not include tariffs, in a laissez-faire principle.
Duh. But if the other nation subsidizes its productive industry, then the competition is unfair. Tariffs help balance that scale.
And look what it leads to: in the right hands, balanced trade deals.
