Mine would be Traverse City, MI on Lake Michigan. Camping with my wrestling buddies while also attending wrestling camp. Sneaking girls into our tents as coach slept or at least pretended to. Just like Scotty I was 17 years old. His was on the Carolina coast. Sounds great.

Everybody's got a summer that they can't forget
They hold on to and go back to
Yeah, mine's on the Carolina coast
Still burnin' in my mind like a red sunset
Chasin' embers 'til September
What I remember most
Bottle rockets in the sky
Bare feet in the sand
Bonfire in her eyes
Cold beer in the can
Moonlight on the waves
Her kiss in the dark
The smile on her face when she'd make me break out my guitar and play
Hold my hand (Hootie and the Blowfish Song)
I can still feel her fingers wrapped up in mine
Can still hear her laughin', see her dancing
Yeah, makin' more than that sundress spin
Who says you can't go back in time?
Yeah, when that song, it comes on
I'm on rewind and I'm 17 again

Summer of '77. I was recovering from a leg injury and took time off Uni and went bush. Did a season tobacco picking out Inglewood (Qld) way then went to South Australia. Re-anchored me after a long stay in hospital and recovery.

The summer of '74. I was attending Ohio State and had met the girl who become my first love, a cheerleader at Miami University, on a blind date the previous New Year's Eve. She was back in town for the summer. It turned out to be just a summer romance but, oh my ... what a romance. And what a summer. :adoreheart:

I took a Summer off from a normal teen's Summer job and caught bait for the local bait houses.

Learned how to play the owners of the bait houses off against each other for the best price too. ;)

Hell, I made more money that Summer than ever before!

I'd say the summer after I graduated from high school in 1978. Lots of beach time boogie-boarding. Lots of partying. That sense of freedom before realizing that living in the world isn't all that free. First time traveling across State lines and seeing new places. Several "hook up" followed by "break ups" leaving me with a sense of bitter-sweet.

What generation was this? Mine was the mid to late 60s.

I suppose it was. Of course many of our bands were from UK.
In Oz we had our local bands as well as the steady feed from the UK and USA. Nostalgic even then. My pre-teens.

Greg, I don't think those songs made it here. I don't remember hearing them.

I doubt they got there. But WE had them as well as the imported stuff. The music was fantastic.
