Every time I take the old truck out, somebody starts a conversation.

Just today and almost every time I drive it, same questions, same interest. Amazingly, even women like the old truck. It's a 1965 Chevrolet pickup (C10) . I drive it because I grew up with these old trucks, had one in high school in 1970, and several of various similar trucks after that. I just love the sound of the six cylinder in-line engine and the whine of the gears from the granny four speed transmission. (A Granny four speed has a first gear that is very low, a stump puller. So low, you actually take off in second gear in normal driving.) They were popular back in the day not so much because of the super low 1st gear, but because they had a syncho 2nd gear. But enough technical crap. It get's about 12 miles to a gallon. Gas was 25 cents a gallon then so....
It's funny to me that the old faded paint and surface rust (now known as "patina" :) these days) seems to be more desirable than shiny new paint.
I've restored the inside to original mostly, and the 250 cubic inch engine is very healthy.
But I left the outside as I found it.

I had one. but not sure if mine was a 63 or 65. but I do remember the shifter was on the column. Power Play 8 track fit on the hump perfectly. You could open the windows and still carry on a conversation. Wind noise was too loud to do that in later models.

I had a '55 one ton panel once. I converted the inside to a sleeper.
