Chinese have a saying, basically that “Moskovy have short memories, Chinese long ones.” and In 1969, the Soviet Union and the Peoples Republic of China -- then both Communist countries -- even had a brief border conflict.

Every Chinese schoolchild and adult citizen knows how Tsarist Muscovy exploited Chinese weakness and seized Chinese territory in the 1858 Treaty of Aigun and the 1860 Treaty of Peking, two “Unequal Treaties” that Tsarist Russia imposed on the decrepit Qing Dynasty.
