I supported Trump in particular and I'm a supporter of Republicans in general, but I can live with the results of this election.
1) There are worse things than having the oldest man ever elected president who is by all appearances a tottering mess as the official leader of the Democratic Party.
2) With the Republicans retaining control of the Senate, there is no danger of the Democrats packing the Supreme Court by changing the number of justices. No danger of the Democrats pushing for statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico.
3) Nancy Pelosi isn't going to advance any of the liberal dreams like medicare for all or the Green New Deal when the Democrats hold on the House is so precarious. Thanks to the unexpected Republican gains in the House, it is entirely possible and even likely that the Democrats will lose control of the chamber in 2022 if nothing more happens than the GOP makes the typical average gains in the House that the party out of power routinely makes in the first midterms after a new president takes over.
So Pelosi is going completely low key.
4) Ironically, given the sheer number of Republicans facing reelection in 2022 and the average losses in the House that take place for the party controlling the presidency in the first midterms, it is quite likely that the results of 2022 will be that the Democrats take control of the Senate....but that the Republicans retake control of the House.
5) I'm not even worried about President Biden replacing Supreme Court justices. The oldest Supreme Court justice in Stephen Breyer who is 82 (ten years older than Thomas who is the second oldest). Replacing one liberal justice with another liberal will have no impact on the current leanings of the court.
6) The only things that really worries me about Biden is that he will not push for greatly increased defense spending which I see as vital in preparing the U.S. for the next major war which I'm certain is coming. Also, Biden according to his science adviser doesn't care much for manned space exploration beyond Earth orbit. So we can kiss the moon and Mars goodbye for a few more years.
Unless something radical happens, this diehard GOPer can live with it.
