The Environmental Protection Agency announced Friday a reduction in force that will save taxpayers nearly $750 million.

The workforce reorganization is part of the agency’s “comprehensive restructuring efforts,” and will affect the Office of Research and Development, the EPA’s scientific research arm.

After the latest reduction, the EPA will have cut its workforce from 16,155 employees in January to 12,448 employees today. That includes 3,201 individuals who voluntarily separated from the agency this year.

“This reduction in force will ensure we can better fulfill that mission while being responsible stewards of your hard-earned tax dollars.”

The EPA announced it was refocusing employees on its most important obligations and necessary functions.

It's more than the salaries...it's the loss of bureaucratic power by the dems. I suspect it will result in a 3-fold+ savings in the end.

Hey, if and when they move into the private sector, they actually can be fired there too. ;)

$750 million is probably small potatoes compared to the money we'd have if Trump just rolled back a bunch more bogus EPA regulations.

It is actually a buyout. They will get money about 10 months of salaery if they voluntarily leave and take the buyout.

IF they cannot find jobs then they will be on unemployment payroll.

Still I suspect most who accept this deal will be those close to retirement.

Hey if he was that committed why not refuse pay.

Rich guy like Trump, why does he need a salary doing government work? So if he was truely committed , he would not accept pay?

He’s never taken a paycheck as president.

He’s never taken a paycheck as president.

Well he has taken the paycheck So in reality the government did pay him. n the 4th year it is reported that he gave back some of the. money

Well it not like he needs the money.
Still Trump admin is the source of the contributions. They say he did it. In reality you either believe what they say or not.

He is reported to have done it in 3 years. In the 4th years it is reported that he donated some of the money.

One would have to see his tax returns to determine if it was true.

Still it seems that most of the money went to government organizations

It seems to me it would have been better to give it to the needy or worth charities instead of the government.

But that is DT give the money to a surce that really did not need it.

Also it does appear that he took the money which would then be a tax write off when he gave it to the government. The 4th year of his president is shakey on what actually happen that year.

It still a shakey story with no proof other than what he says,

Yeah....saving money.

And taking weeks or months or years off your lifespan, gimp.

Keep cutting Department by Department. They are all bloated and all need RIFS.
They'll keep cutting.

And your reward will be dying younger and poorer.

It's kind of important that the EPA regulates toxic chemicals, gomer. Believe it or not.

How many lives will the lack of oversight cost the USA?

Ha Ha ha! Oh yeah cutting 10 percent of redundant personnel out of the EPA is going reduce my wealth and lifespan. You do have a sense of humor!

He’s always donated his salary to charity.

I doubt it....A friend who worked for DHS who was a few months away from retirement looked into the buyout and he told me he would lose his insurance going forward if he took the buy-out instead of just waiting to retire normally so that is what he did.

Most that took the buyout were new hires. You know the ones the FJB administration were trying to embed in the .gov before they left. Most were hired after Biden was defeated during the transition. The RIF took care of much of the rest of them as a RIF is mostly based on seniority within the departments where a RIF was ordered.

which is a tax writeoff

Also the story also says that he does not donate to charity gives the money back to the government.

Don't know how that works

anyway back to the charity thing, check this out

A judge Thursday ordered President Donald Trump to pay $2 million to an array of charities as a fine for misusing his own charitable foundation to further his political and business interests.

New York state Judge Saliann Scarpulla imposed the penalty after the president admitted to a series of abuses outlined in a lawsuit brought against him last year by the New York attorney general’s office.

Yes that is how your Trump rolls

By the way that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Among other things, Trump acknowledged in a legal filing that he allowed his presidential campaign staff to coordinate with the Trump Foundation in holding a fundraiser for veterans during the run-up to the 2016 Iowa caucuses. The event was designed “to further Mr. Trump’s political campaign,” Scarpulla said.
