Very interesting stuff..is this Science Fiction or..are we playing with our own extinction? Do we run the risk of rendering ourselves obsolete?
Scary stuff...and not totally believable...to me.
What is believable is that AI has the potential to destroy, or at least totally change, large segments of our labor force and creative endeavors.
Do we want our tech leaders armed with such tech....as they control more and more of our society..and our lives?

More than 1,000 concerned critics of artificial intelligence, ranging from industry executives and academics to tech specialists, have signed an open letter calling for at least a six-month pause on large, open experiments with the technology.
Companies researching AI are “locked in an out-of-control race to develop and deploy ever more powerful digital minds that no one — not even their creators — can understand, predict, or reliably control,” the letter reads. “If such a pause cannot be enacted quickly, governments should step in and institute a moratorium.”

The letter warns of potentially apocalyptic scenarios.
“Should we develop nonhuman minds that might eventually outnumber, outsmart, obsolete and replace us?” it asks. “Should we risk loss of control of our civilization? Such decisions must not be delegated to unelected tech leaders.”
SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, IBM chief scientist Grady Booch, stability AI CEO Emad Mostaque and tech ethicist Tristan Harris all signed the letter, which was released Wednesday morning.

Academics who signed it include Stuart Russell, who heads the University of California at Berkeley’s Center for Human-Compatible Artificial Intelligence, Hebrew University of Jerusalem historian Yuval Noah Harari and Sean O’Heigeartaigh, the executive director of Cambridge University’s Centre for the Study of Existential Risk.

The quest to give cars a self-driving capability gave AI a huge technological boost beyond what was once a purely academic area of study. Elon had much to do with that. What worries me most is the inevitable real life version of skynet that is undoubtedly being built.

It won't ever stop because China and others will never stop. The Internarional order is in ruins, all those who wished Americas demise are now silently wishing for your return to sole super power status. Even many patriotic Canadians are starting to revert from their impulsive "America is bad" mantra.

America is all that stands between china and world domination

That is why I am always nice to my Google Home device, just to be safe! :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg:
