I've seen a couple of GQPers with enough balls to say that the Chairman should remain independent.

Otherwise, that would be a very, very dangerous situation. Trump is aggressively ignorant on macroeconomics.

We got a glimpse of what it might look like should Dotard try to fire Powell last week when the story came out about the meeting with Repub congressmen who gave the suggestion by trump a thumbs up. The Dow dropped about 500 points in 30 minutes, then the Criminal-in-Chief said he had no plans to do it. The notion of the Fed effectively being under the control of a reckless moron who only has an interest in getting the market up so he can brag about it frightens everyone who isn't an idiot. They approached reporters there, and Trump asserted that construction costs for the ongoing renovation of the two Fed buildings have topped $3.1 billion.

“I haven’t heard that from anybody,” Powell replied.

He said Trump was adding in the costs for a third government building, which was “built five years ago.”

Trump responded, “So we’re going to take a look. We’re going to see what’s happening, and it’s got a long way.”

So was that building in the original cost estimate or not? The final numbers are outrageous. As Trump said he renovated the DC post office which is much bigger for $200 million. Why does the Fed need such an expensive empire for 20 Fed governors who meet every other month? Their "staff" doesn't need a Taj Mahal either. There are plenty of empty buildings available.
