This tariff issue is one I many of us have spoken on ad nauseam and thus I don't wish to re-enact another chapter in this long book. I do find such reactions to be that of someone compromised, just generally impressive, or, just willing to blindly regurgitate what they were taught in school, without much criticism of it. Consider the movie Good Will Hunting when Will exposes the robotic prep guy with the ponytail who was trying to embarrass Ben Affleck by reciting other peoples work.

Thankfully Trump appears to have surrounded himself with men and women who also seem to understand the macro economics at play here. The high tariffs are going to be a major boon for America and Main Street. There was a poll shown I believe in CNN though I could be wrong and it conveyed that Trump gained a great deal of popularity with minority voters since his election. He is taking ALL of the Dems demographics of old, working class and minority voters.

In short, if he does what he promised and brings back manufacturing, decreases the cost of fuel, drives rates down (which help mortgages, debters, borrowers and the U.S when they pay their loan obligations), the next person running after Trump just has to stay the course and they will have a lay up victory.

No, a high tariff against China specifically would NOT hurt the U.S. It's asinine for someone with an MBA to just regurgitate theory that isn't applicable to the year 2025. When you are losing trillions a year, how can you hurt yourself by forcing unfair traders to pay an entry fee and drive jobs back within your borders?

What bothers me most is not having a contrarian view. I will give CBC some credit as of late they have had one two GOP reps who were very supportive of Trump. One guy from Pennsylvania and another from the Mid West or something. They were completely supportive of Trumps approach, one guy half apologizing to Canada but explaining why it is needed.

It just rubs me the wrong way that some just don't care to think for themselves. I won't accept that anyone can be this ignorant to the economic reality of the world today

Please SHUT UP!

Be Better, Media: Issues With Racial Framing in Post-2024 Election Coverage

Following the 2024 Election, media coverage has been dominated by newspapers seeking to articulate how Donald Trump won the election.1 As a part of this coverage, there is a noticeable rise in articles on the shift in Black and Latino votes for Trump with titles such as “Trump’s return to power fueled by Hispanic, working-class voter support,” and lines like “some surprising margins . . . within groups including women, Black and Latino voters helped carry the former president to victory.”2 While it is certainly important to recognize shifts in the voting patterns of people of color and what that means, the media framing that seeks to attribute Trump’s victory to people of color is concerning because it seemingly blames those who will be most devastated by a second Trump term for his victory.

To be clear, Trump’s voting coalition is overwhelmingly composed of white voters. Approximately 84% of the votes for Trump in 2024 were cast by white voters.

Tariffs do not work the way trump tells you. People who study these things for a living know more than you about this.

Yes, the world is full of unimpressive people.

Adding tariffs would still increase the cost of things.

If people did not want to buy things at the low price then they would buy the more expense things.

Still tariffs rarely work.
People are also unwilling to do the painful thing for a better outcome later in life.

No one teaches people that if you want the reward, you need to do the necessary things first, no matter how much 'we' don't like to do them.

Buy American.

If tariffs rarely work how come every other country uses them?
