You're missing the point They are rooting for the President to fail

Nobody has ever rooted for Trump to fail. At anything. The consequences of his failures is far too damaging to the American people. People prayed he wouldn't fail because the fallout has been horrendous. But we were also aware of Trump's history of fiscal incompetence and criminality.

1.2 million people died of covid as a result of Trump's failure to deal with the pandemic. Nobody cheered for Trump to fail, but it's plain to see how his policies and his attempts to politicize the disease lead to those deaths.

Trump has done nothing but fail in his dealings with Iran since he pulled out of the Joint Agreement in his first term. That Agreement, which the Iranians were in compliance with, eliminated the uranium enrichment program until 2025, so the Iranians could not possibly have been "weeks away" from a nuclear weapon until at least last year.

Trump pulling out of that Agreement is what allowed the Iranians to restart their enrichment program. That's Trump's first failure. Allowing Iran to restart its nuclear program. All of the other nations who signed that Agreement BEGGED Trump not to do it. Nobody wished that failure on Trump. He was determined to end this agreement, and he did it.
