Cooper Dejean is the NFL's first starting WHITE cornerback in 22 years. He's not just a fill-in; he's a superstar. He's a lock-down corner. Many analysts say it was a travesty he wasn't selected for the Pro-Bowl, even though he didn't start until the sixth game. As you saw, he got a pick-six in the Super Bowl on his 22nd birthday. He looks like an average bro kid. Six feet, 198 lbs. Without his ID, I'm sure security wouldn't let him into the stadium.

Dejean has otherworldly physical attributes: 38-inch vertical. 4.42 speed. Blistering cone drill times. He can fill a position only black players can fill, and he does it better than most if not all of them. He played all sports in high school. Can dunk with ease. He's such a misfit anomaly, he didn't get many D-I offers even though he was a four-star recruit. He just didn't look the part of a cornerback. He has a football sense and anticipation in addition to his athletic gifts. He's from a small town in Iowa, population 900. He was a consensus All- America player despite being injured for much of his last season. He left college a year early to enter the NFL draft, and was drafted in the second round. He's a Christian kid. Has a beautiful girlfriend (of course) whom he met in college.

Maybe others knew about this kid. Though I heard his name during the season, I never knew his story until yesterday.
