I don't think EV's were ever meant to replace gas guzzling cars.

I think the goal is for the vast majority to use public transportation, with the very rich only owning cars which probably will be EV's.

It is the reverse of what Ford did with the model T, and that was to pay his workers a decent wage so they could afford the cars he made.

this is a thing characterized by on-going improvement. Its mostly depending on the cost per kilowatt hour of EV batteries. Two years ago, the cost was $149 per kilowatt hour, but in 2026 the cost is expected to drop to half that, then be at cost parity to ICE vehicles according to goldman sachs.

Its more than just cost though, its also the weight per kilowatt hour, and how well it maintains capacity after 100's discharge-recharge cycles, and total number of recharge cycles before battery death.
