Dr's and Nurses. Question Pleas ?

My brother In-Law has had a massive stroke. He has a metal plate in his head from a past injury, and because of that they cant do MRI . His Mother wont let them do surgery to have a look in his head, and the last I herd they are going to stint his neck ware the blockage was. So how do they get a look into his head, and how do folks usually do after a massive stroke ? He is a young guy. About 38. forgot to say. they did find a clot in his neck.
