I find it hard to believe other nations are in on hyping this situation in order to discredit the president of the US.Couldn't agree more. The key to economic recovery is people having faith in credit. As long as we agree to count the original credit and value of assets we hold with each other, we can rebuild based on that value. (It's like if someone decides your house is still worth full value, and agrees to pay that price, it makes it worth that value, not the assessment on paper that might say it's worth half)
HP, that's a separate additional issue from the nature of this pandemic that isn't like the flu.
The reason the hospitalization rates and sudden escalations into thousands of patients is so different from the flu, is this is the first exposure to most of the population. Instead of one strain of virus, it came from a combination of two different species of hosts before it infected humans. So that is causing unpredictable and undetectable patterns of symtoms.
Because the high rate of cases doubles every 2-5 days in different regions, the 15% hospitalization rate puts thousands of patients into ICU for 2-4 weeks at a time, exceeding hospital staff, space, and supplies. That is the critical danger -- losing medical troops so there are not enough soldiers to defend the cities struck by sudden escalations like bombs going off.
If these patients were like a previous flu, the thousands of cases would be spread out where each patient would get one on one attention and maximum care. Instead Italy and next NY are facing losses of medics, either from infection taking them off duty for 2-4 weeks, or by death which further strikes down the morale of hospital staff.
No recent flus, either Flu A or B or Swine Flu caused such pronounced escations that overwhelm each epicenter. Multiple surges, all skyrocketing at the same time, mean national and international aid that could normally be concentrated at one epicenter instead are divided where several overrun epicenters are competing for resources and backup at the same time.
That's why this isn't like another flu.
All cities are warned to be especially vigilant to limit and restrict interactions, after the count reaches 50-100, because once it starts doubling every 3 days, it doesn't take long to become another Italy, where NY and Louisiana are already showing signs of being overrun by shortages.
Sure, we could just wait until the fires burn out. Let those die who are going to die anyway. But that still requires full containment, since even the dead as well as the recovered are found to shed the virus that can still infect others.
Either way, whether full efforts are concentrated on the medical treatment or patients are left to die as in Italy, we still need to contain and separate the high risk areas of quarantine from the low risk or immune sectors if any, in order to put people back to work keeping the economy going.
This economic organization still requires recognizing the full demands involved in the high hospitalization numbers that exceed capacity and are not like the flu!
This explanation is not to make anyone panic but to make sure we are all on the same page, so nobody else panics or argues about denial, so we can better focus on medical demands, create safe jobs and worksite to address and fill the supply shortages, and keep the economic relationships going.
We need to trust each other and invest in common demands and solutions, which will help stabilize the economy based on that credit we agree to recognize with each other.

I do have health insurance. The Affordable Health Care Act was not health insurance. It was a policy designed to provide assistance so people could afford insurance.
