Dow headed for the worst April since the Great Depression

If I wasn't retired and had funds going into a 401k employee retirement plan my thoughts on the current economic situation would consists of 3 words: dollar cost averaging.
/—/ Do you have dividends automatically reinvested?

Sure. Powell couldn't adequately predict the future in one instance. But inflation did come down and Powell did achieve the soft landing that people thought was going to be basically impossible.

Notably, this level of perfection in foresight is only applicable to people who don't bend the knee. Trump and Republicans get major things wrong all the time, but you still love them. It's an excuse you're making to try and bully Powell into doing what you want. Or more likely, setting up a narrative to blame him for Trump's incompetence.

Again, I won't need to setup any narrative. That will be you. Better start planning now, because the market will rise and flourish within 12 months. The left will make claims of how it was because he caved or some other nonsense, but the bottom line is that we will be better off then than we were before he was elected.

Yes, which is what many of us are doing now while the liberals are running around with their tails between their legs over tariffs.

Trump’s approval rating on the economy is not good.

Republicans won over a lot of independent voters primarily because of the economy. If Republicans can’t deliver then those voters are not likely to stick with them. They’re looking for results, not excuses.

You myopic depressos need to shut up about the stock market. You are all bitter broke asses clicking your heels in wish for others to be inflicted with your own self imposed misery and stupidity

This is all just blind partisan faith.

The stock market won't be low for long, but MSNBC won't tell you that.
This is an opportunity that comes along only a few times in one’s life:

1987 - I had no money in the stock market, young chickadee that I was, and my dad (may he RIP) suggested that I withdraw my money from a CD, pay the penalty (!), and buy Fidelity Magellan, which had just dropped by almost half. I did - and doubled my money in a year,

2008 - I invested money just after the market crashed, and sat tight. Eighteen months later, with my amazing return, I was able to retire - ahead of schedule.

This is another one of those times. I don’t have much ready cash, but I have some - and I’m looking to make a purchase in the next day or so.

/—/ He said the market will be bumpy, and prices are going down, fool.
Prices are not going to go down because wig these tarriffs. Only way for them to go is up. Businesses all over the world have been planning their price increases over the past couple weeks. They will be reflected in next quarters numbers

Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe we will have a prolonged recession or a lost decade.

What I do know is that we were a growing economy poised for a good return on the market this year and that's all gone to shit.

The faith you have that it won't is blind partisan faith.

No reason to bicker. Lets wait and see who is correct. Deal?

Actually, no, but believe what you will.

Of course it will eventually come back. That doesn’t dismiss the damage Trump caused. He burnt down the building. Just because a new one gets built doesn’t excuse the reckless actions that caused the destruction

Yes it does because the fundamentals will be better. Our economy will be stronger and less reliant on foreign countries. We will have a net gain on tariffs, even if we still have a trade deficit. It would have all been worth it.

Where were you in 2022?
