Doomsday Scenarios

Science ain't religion, and AGW is a fact.

AGW doesn't have enough science to back up it's Revelations. Not when FUNDAMENTAL critical numbers for "climate sensitivity" and "CO2 residence time" have such high uncertainties.

It's more of a fortune-telling, tea leaf reading, witchdoctor magic, pop culture artifact..

So says the yokel that stated that the ice ages were less than 800,000 years, and that mankind as a species was less than 40,000 years old.

OK, let's look a real doomday scenerious. Obviously, the #1 is a large comet or asteroid strike. What is the time frame for that? Usually about 100 million years. Can it happen? Yes! Is it likely in the lifespan of our species? No.

Caldera volcanos. Damned near wiped us out once, already. Likely in the life span of our species? Yes. Damned near a certainty. Will the species now survive it? Yes, but there will be a lot fewer of us after the dust setttles.

Global warming from the use of fossil fuels. A certainty. Going to create some real problems. Wipe us out? No. But will diminish our numbers, and that of the fellow creatures that share this planet.
