The UK doesn't have strategic_bombers. They can use fighters, "F" (as in F-35) usually means "fighter", to bomb something, but it doesn't mean that F-35 is a bomber (much lesser - strategic bomber). So, the proper retaliation for the proxy attack against Russian strategic bombers will be a proxy attack against US strategic bombers.

I've read it. Russian strategic bombers were attacked. Not figher-bombers, not fighers, not civilian jets. Strategic bombers. It means that strategic bombers should be proxy-attacked as a retaliation.
Neither Britain, nor France has strategic bombers. Therefore it will be US strategic bombers. May be, if the USA has proves that America is innocent, and it is Britain to be blamed (I very doubt that anybody will accept any American explanations, but as an intellectual exercise, we can play it), some Scottish/Irish/Welsh separatists will attack HMNB Clyde and two Vanguard type SSBNs in it.
