The last minute attacks and counterattacks we are seeing may be a signal that the Ukraine War is coming to an end. Russia doesn't want to absorb all of Ukraine into its sovereign territory, and Ukraine doesn't want to lose its sovereign identity. The inevitable resolution will be an official redrawing of national boundaries with an agreement that Ukraine will not allow any foreign troops on its soil.

This will be a win-win situation wherein Russia can justify its invasion and Ukraine can claim to have stopped it. It would not surprise me if a ceasefire with these conditions were to occur within the next 30 days, since neither side has much more to gain from continuing the conflict.
