A New York appellate court on Thursday denied former President Donald Trump's attempt to overturn
gag orders barring him from attacking the principle law clerk of the state judge presiding over his civil fraud case.
In a four-page
ruling, New York's Appellate Division, First Department noted that "t
he gravity of potential harm is small, given that the Gag Order is narrow, limited to prohibiting solely statements regarding the court’s staff."
Since Oct. 3, 2023, the second day of his civil fraud trial, Trump has been under a gag order forbidding him from making statements about the judge's staff after the former president attacked his principal law clerk on Truth Social. Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron fined Trump twice for violating that order and expanded it to include Trump's lawyers.
