Nope.So any journalist who may be covering a protest is now a protester. There goes the 1st amendment.
Both protests and journalism are protected by the 1st Amendnment.
But that does not mean you can commit any crime you want as long as you claim it is part of a protest or in furtherance of journalism. Protesters and journalists are not above the law.
If a pro-life group links arms outside the door of an abortion clinic that is a violation of the FACE act. If one of the arm linkers happens to be wearing a Matt Drudge hat with a press tag in the hat band that doesn't exonerate him or her.
