In a Republic, actually
‘U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) officials said several members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) arrived unannounced with FBI agents on Saturday but were denied access to the building after being approached by their counsel.

“They were met at the door by the Institute’s outside counsel who informed them of USIP’s private and independent status as a non-executive branch agency. Following that discussion, the DOGE representatives departed,” Gonzo Gallegos, USIP’s director of communications, said in a statement to The Hill.

USIP is a national non-partisan organization created by Congress and dedicated to protecting U.S. interests by helping to prevent violent conflicts and broker peace deals abroad according to their website. It uses federal funding to perform its mission and works closely with the Department of Defense.’

Very good.

This is the way to fight fascism – confront them with facts and the truth.

Most on the fascist right are cowards.

I bet DOGE smelled grift. That sounds just like the sort of .org that congress would protect and be getting laundered grift money from.

Oh well Gonzo.....Can't hide the data.

DOGE looked around and said.....

This "Institute of Peace" doesn't know it yet, but they're about to have a "What would you say...you do here" moment.

"USIP is funded annually by the U.S. Congress. For fiscal year 2023 Congress provided $55 million.[15] Occasionally, USIP receives funds transferred from government agencies, such as the Department of State, USAID, and the Department of Defense. By law, USIP is prohibited from receiving private gifts and contributions for its program activities. The restriction on private fundraising was lifted for the public-private partnership to construct the USIP headquarters."

Oh yeah. There needs to be a deep dive into their books.

Yep, money laundering machine.

It's funny how when these .orgs are dug into slightly they freak the **** out.

Small wonder Trump fired all the agency IGs....None were doing their jobs and by the looks of things they were in collusion with the money laundering.

I have a feeling you are going to see a lot more dem senators and house members retiring before '26 as their grift funding has dried-up and their billionaire friends have said No Mas given the way the dems behave.

Looks to me like a place rife for grifting. So how do they make peace around the world? wanna bet they simply hand out U.S. dollars to various groups around the world? put on pricy events / parties on tax payer funds? no doubt they do, and an investigation needs to determine if money spent actually reaps anything other than being a jobs program. Potentially the organization is no different than th egovernment handing out Covid checks each month.
Government is notorious for ineficiency and Lazyness. They need to be audited for sure, and if they want to slam the door in the face of DOGE, then I guess they are asking for their funding to be cut off.

As DOGE director Elon "Terminator" Musk so often tells his upcoming victims; "I'll Be Back"!
