No, take action. If there are enough people concerned about the matter it would be simple enough to form a league of their own. They should also work towards replacing those that support the present policy, such as those on the Board of Education if it is a public school matter. I don't look at it as forfeiting, I'd call it getting off one's ass and doing something about it.
