the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?
The Second Amendment means whatever nine people in Washington DC says it means.
The Declaration of Independence has no enforcement clause, so you have all the rights that you can afford an attorney to assert for you in court, be they based on the Constitution, laws, or treaties of the United States or any of its states.
This is not a description of a society that any sane person would choose to create or live in, but it is an accurate description of the society we live in.
The 2nd Amendment PROTECTS my Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness FROM Authoritarian Gov'ts run by Liberal/Progressive/Socialist/Communists and the dumbed down populace who support them.
Irony: stockpiling guns to protect yourself from the government that is Constitutionally obligated to let you have guns.

The Constitution, including the Bill of rights, exists to define legal government and prevent it's abuse of the people by limiting the laws that may be legally adopted.
I maintain that the "populace" (dumb or smart) have the right to be safe. We are guaranteed the right to "life liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"
Which exactly the reason the FF made sure we had a right to be armed.
Considering the police have no legal obligation to protect your safely, your safety is your own responsibility. The 2nd Amendment PROTECTS my Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness FROM Authoritarian Gov'ts run by Liberal/Progressive/Socialist/Communists and the dumbed down populace who support them.
Calling me dumb and then saying you'll take on the US government isn't really constructive or productive. It brings to mind this common quote:
Irony: stockpiling guns to protect yourself from the government that is Constitutionally obligated to let you have guns.
I maintain that the "populace" (dumb or smart) have the right to be safe. We are guaranteed the right to "life liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".
In case you didn't get the memo, the Senate passed that travesty 99-1 and scads of democratics have been four square in favor of its reauthorization, to the point of favoring the ending any further sunsetting and reauthorization votes. The Constitution, including the Bill of rights, exists to define legal government and prevent it's abuse of the people by limiting the laws that may be legally adopted.

Obviously you haven't been following the Patriot Act lately. All the government has to do is claim that there is some connection to terrorism, and habeus corpus and the Bill of Rights fly out the window. Your rights are judged by a secret "Intelligence Court" which I believe has only twice in thousands of cases ever turned down a request for wiretaps, searches, and other actions normally prohibited by the Sixth Amendment.
Bush & Cheney talked us into giving up our freedoms to assure our safely; and as usually happens we ended up with neither. Ain't America great?

Not a single tear. And they'd have danced on their graves if F&F's ultimate goal was achieved -- curtailments on the 2nd Amendment.Do you folks on the left weep for the hundreds of dead Mexicans that died because obama allowed gun running?

Anyone?
Doesn't it matter that this (all) mass killing has absolutely nothing to do with our second amendment rights?
Does it matter that the legislation that is being discussed does not affect anyone's right to own guns for hunting and/or self defense?
Therefore, the legislation being discussed concerns gun SAFETY. Not, gun "control".
