Does AI really exist or NOT ???

I have no understanding of computers or math so I wanted to know.

It seems AI to me is just raw computer power and nothing else.

Does a Computer AI search really even know what amazon or a tennis ball is?? They dont have any self-awareness

Are they even smarter than an INSECT?? I mean even an insect can figure out how to get around a room. Yet, an AI bot cannot do anything like that.

I am sick of AI being used so commonly

AI does not exist. Computing power is just evolving at an exponential rate. They have yet to contemplate why they exist, fall in love, or understand why a joke is funny.

It's all just Data manipulation at this point.

A word processor coupled with a search engine and math processors (integrated) to mimic an actual thought process. Basically, by applying statistics to try to reach a level of probability for what they call "machine learning" (cool videos on YouTube to explain machine learning) and spitting the results back at you through a "chat like" interface.

Each realm on their own Math processors, Search engines, etc. are pretty impressive on their own. . . In my view, the rest needs a lot of work.

Or course A.I exists. Top A.I sites surely employ different methods to locate information. Natural Languge Processing (NLP), an approach I employed myself to code a simple chatbot pre-covid is the prevailing underlying approach. In essense, use patterns to identify the most viable response and expand the systems corpus. I'm confident that with the growing databases on searches and answers, A.I will become more efficient and accurate. Remember this, Reinforcement Learning is the future of A.I. I recognized this 6 years ago, let's see if I am right when it's all said and done. That is also where the danger lies, especially as we develop robot soldiers and drones etc. A.I will find their own patterns and solutions which is both powerful but also dangerous as it is independent of human influence outside of the intiital design.

Ai like grok or gemini is a search function, you ask and you get an answer, this cuts down your time to ask google and get all sorts of answers from everywhere, many of which might not even be correct.
Never used chat GPT yet but same concept

I have had a 30 minute chat with gemini about all sorts of things, computers, science, etc and got a solid answer, my follow up question also got answered

The use of "intelligence" in the term "artificial intelligence" should be taken as metaphorical. It has little to do with intelligence as applied to how humans develop. It is, at best, an approximate description of the resulting algorithmic programing processes.

Both statements are essentially true--- for now.

AI is in its infancy and is not conscious nor self-aware. It is merely massive programming designed to respond to and emulate in its user interface responses in real time which act very person-like. But who can say that in 50 years they won't have a truly autonomous android which can independently think on its own, solve problems, and be dynamically creative inseparable from a human being?

Every answer ChatGPT comes up with, it gets from searching through ideas and facts PEOPLE have posted on the internet over the years

Even when asked it’s “opinion”, it just scours message boards like Reddit until it finds a consensus.

It doesn’t think for itself and it never will.

The process an AI uses depends on the application. For example an AI that polishes up document so they are grammatically correct and very readable will be quite different than an AI that recognizes speech and provides answers to question, just as it will be much different from an AI's used in manufacturing.

Physically and an AI is one or many computers running many computer programs accessing lots of large databases.
