Depends. Younger pediatricians do it every day, and I have yet to see too many parents dumb enough to spitefully contradict a doctor when their child's well being is on the line. As GTH mentioned, a person's ability to figure out the complexities of unprotected sex does not make them an expert. KNOWLEDGE makes someone's advice meaningful.

Sometimes, yea.

My sister in law used to have a nightmare getting her kid to eat certain things. But she'd eat them for me. Know what it was? My sister in law put salt on her food - I don't. Sometimes it's better to be outside the 'problem' to see it.
