Zone1 Do you have a traditional day when you get rid of your Christmas tree?

for my parents it always was Candlemas, on February 2
.

No, I never kept track. I have an artificial tree, so it just gets stored in the closet.

Is there a particular reason for Candlemas?

Within a few days after Christmas, the tree goes out back by the workshop,
Then on the next clear Saturday, I tie about 6 cans of dog food with holes punched in them to various limbs, and tie a weight to the base of the trunk, before taking it to a certain 8-foot-deep underwater pond in the lake and throw it overboard
Then after a few weeks I visit it whenever possible until mid-spring.

Usually when it dries up and the needles start to fall off…….by mid Jan
