I've had one for a few years now..
You can get them pretty cheap.

Mine has a credit card slot on it.

Yes. I shred everything that I am going to throw out that has any sort of personal information on it. It's fun.

Got one for myself. Was so cool I bought my son one. Wasn't an expensive one but it works.

We have an outdoor wire bin where we burn yard trash. All personal papers that should not be recycled for the reasons your mentioned go into this bin and get burned.

I have one.. It holds dust quite nicely...since I never seem to throw anything out.

i don't have one because i don't get paper statements anymore for any financial info. it all comes to email, or at least the notification does, and then i just click the link, log in, then view/pay, etc. all credit cards, bank statements, mortgage payments, etc are done online. it's all free, and i can make payments for free in most instances.

the only bill that does not come online is the electric bill, because they don't offer it.

I use paytrust, you have to pay for it but it can link to all of your accounts in order to pay your bills. I have every bill sent there, if they don't accept electric payments, or won't send them electronically, they accept the bill in snail mail and then paytrust sends a check snail mail style from whichever account you select. Since we have accounts in numerous banks it is the best way to go about it. At the end of the year you can purchase a CD with all of your payments for all your bills for that year. In this way I have written only two checks personally in over two years. You can even send a one-time payment by mail to whomever you wish through them.

I do actually pay most everyting on-line which is a whole other problem with hackers, but having a business there is still a good amount of paperwork that comes to the house, so I think a shredder would be a wise purchase to make.

And you can use the shredded paper for packing in boxes at Christmas time too. :teeth:

Little side story here.....my cousin and her husband own a collectibles business and ship many things out to customers. They use all that shredded paper as packing, so my Aunt grabbed a bunch from her office which was being thrown away, and gave it to them to use, which they did till they looked closely at it and discovered it was hard core porn. Imagine their customers faces when they opened up their packaged cookie jars and Betty Boop collectibles and saw that??? :eek2:

I think the bigger question is why was that stuff found in a government building?? Someone there has way to much time on their hands.
