Do they really want to solve the immigration issue? Why haven’t Republicans crafted a Bill to convert illegal entry from a misdemeanor to a felony?

If Congress really wanted to go beyond posturing, really wanted to solve the problem couldn’t they just tweak 8 U.S.C. 1325 while they have both chambers?
Add a minimum and mandatory 5 year prison sentence for committing this felony….Second offense 10 years minimum. This also includes never being able to get a green card, Visa, or citizenship for life.
Imagine the number of illegals that would be forced to self deport if such legislation was passed.

The best way? Cut off any social program support, no driver's license, inability to rent a dwelling, proper ID to obtain employment.

Cut all that off and they'll self deport
What about all the parasites that have a plethora of anchor babies to care for them financially?

Gotta go. If you're here illegally that's your problem, pumping out anchor babies only fuels their own demise

Given that most of the controversy around deporting dangerous illegals is distracting from the fact that Trump is on track to deport less illegals than Obama did?

I'd so no, they aren't serious.

The folks that run both parties want lots and lots of foreigners here.
Just look at Trump's H1-B policies. It can't be more, "in your face," than oligarchs wanting cheap foreign labor instead of promoting native employment.

Social support, driver’s licenses, housing regulations etc are all under state oversight…There’s no way in hell Mexifornia and or ANY other blue shithole would ever implement such legislation.

A Bill as mentioned in the OP passed in Congress and codified would solve all immigration issues at the federal and state levels.

I'd be 100% behind that ... but it has absolutely no chance of ever passing unless the Democrat Party all catch some horrible virus and disappear off the face of the Earth ...

I simply stated how to end it. Do that and they have little alternative.

But of course there is underlying malicious going on so you are correct

Do we really know how many Obama deported? Can we/should we trust the data provided by that administration?

I agree…or they’d solve the problem with a simple Bill

I have to believe many here imported under H1-B are only here to service our illegal alien population of 50-100 million….No illegals may mean very few Dr. Patels needed.
Further, the quality of foreigners is quite variable…I see nothing wrong with importing high quality foreigners with the sole purpose of improving America for Americans.

But why? If Republicans hold all the legislative power why isn’t now the time to bring such a Bill?

Because it would never become law

I agree it should be a felony

but as long as the senate is equally divided and dems have the fillibuster…

A rare good question. Because that is what we decided was justice in our society. Break the law; you get incarcerated.

Of course it’s a conservative “hang em high” mindset that ignored the intracies of the human condition.

For an example. You catch a man, a woman, and a child. You put each parent in the slammer...what do you do with the kid? They going to the slammer too?

Additionally, if you really want the federal prison system to swell by tens of thousands over a 5 year period with no end in sight...you’re looking at a shitload more spending. There are massive labor shortages in prisons to start with...Adding 20-30 more units is probably a non-starter from that standpoint alone.

Or just put them on a plane back to the shit hole they came from.

Better yet, they walked here they can walk back

Make hiring an illegal alien a Class A felony.
I agree with that as well but like I’ve told pknopp 100 times, such a law won’t stop anchor baby and probably already felonious legal cousin Humberto who owns Humberto’s Tire Shop from hiring all his familia.
The legislation mentioned in the OP fixes the problem from top to bottom and is highly likely there to stay.
