Opiod addiction has no political affiliation. It is also not possible to get a handle on it with more cops, prisons and mandatory sentencing, but conservatives want to apply the failed policies of the drug war to this public health crisis. These people risk death every time they stick a needle in their arm, jail just is not that scary in comparison. New strategies are needed and quickly.
