A low birth replacement rate inevitably leads to a negative population growth rate unless the low birth rate is mitigated by immigration.

Leaving the countries they abandoned worse off than before.

Here's a funny thing about population growth and birth rates.

China is communist, right? Anti-materialist, anti-capitalist, and all that.

When the USSR collapsed, China began to understand centrally planned economies are doomed to fail and they began moving toward a market economy and opened up their trade with the capitalist pigs of the West.

Suddenly there were a billion Chinese entering the global labor market. This had the negative effect of suppressing wages in the West due to Chinese people working for peanuts. This had the positive effect of making products in the West a lot cheaper.

You gotta take the good with the bad.

However, with Chinese people becoming more prosperous, they are rapidly transforming from an export-dependent economy to a consumer economy like the US.

When that happens, they will start demanding higher wages, and the suppression of global wages will end.

It's a pig moving through a python.

The Chinese are already starting to ask for more wages.

Once in a while, the CCP has a spasm and attempts to centrally control things again, but most Americans are ignorant of the fact that the CCP long ago started giving local governments a lot of latitude over their own regional economies.

This is how China ended up with entire cities of empty apartment buildings.

Now about that One-Child Policy.

Like every other country on Earth, males have greater earning power than females in China.

So when a couple is restricted to one child, they tend to create a male child and will abort or abandon a female child.

Female newborns were literally abandoned in the streets.

The end result is that there are a lot more males than females in China.

This gives the women an advantage as they are the supply which cannot meet the demand by suitors.

This has ironically made the women in Communist China materialistic.

"What can you do for me, boy?"



Of course, China could always cull the male herd by invading Taiwan...

I don't know how either...

Other than maybe raising the quota caps for green card holders, or maybe increase the green cards for student visa holders after they graduate?

Otherwise, we are over the baby boomer hump in the mid 2030s and our population begins to decline....of course if Americans had more children, that too would help.
