Did upper class American families really hate Mormons in the 80s?

I was watching Stranger Things and they had a rich family who hated Democrats and Mormons.

Is it just leftist Hollywood propaganda to make rich Republicans look bad or did they really exist?

What became of those type of families?

Did they remain upper class and became snobby Hillary Clinton supporters?

Did they become angry lower class blue collar MAGA families?

Did their kids become kids become snobby adults or nice adults?

I only know that my dad came from a Mormon family. My dad went onto become a beater and a cheater and that right there is only the beginning, as of right now that is all that I will share about him other than the fact that he has been dealing with Parkinson's Disease for the past ten years. In other words, he is the perfect example of this old saying: "What goes around can and will come back around."

Never even heard of a Mormon in my AO till the 90s when a sect of them built a nice church outside of town.

Odd bunch, they are armed to the teeth with class 3 toys, vote dem in national elections (something to do with immigration) yet vote gop or independent in state/local elections.

They have a kick-ass range on church property. They seem OK to me as they keep to themselves.

Unlike the Catholics who moved in about the same time, built a college, and now try to run the town. Seems my town has become a Catholic destination of sorts with a new church being built now.

Even though they are right-leaning "good Catholics" they got too big for their britches and a lot of them were voted out this last go-round in favor of local-born right-leaning hopefuls.

I can confirm the mission. Two of my male cousins did one. They were both gone for two years. Their dad is my dad's brother.
