Johnson suggested the probe linked the Nowitschok poison to Russia with all certainty but now it came out that this is simply not true and the source of the nerve agent has not been identified. When accused of lying, Johnson claimed his statement was only about the nature of the poison. Who believes this mad man?

Every time this sort of thing happens and Russia is suspected, Russia plays the same game of disinformation. It's clear every time.
Proof?
Putin doesn't send his best agents over to the UK to kill people and expect them to leave too much evidence behind.
However, look at the list of people being killed by poisons.
You have another Russian killed with polonium. Who gets polonium to kill with exactly? Russia has polonium.
From the wikipedia page on Polonium
"Only about 100 grams are produced each year, practically all of it in Russia, making polonium exceedingly rare."
Litvinenko was a former Russian spy living in the UK. Died.
Victor Yushchenko was poisoned, he was also an opponent of Putin, this poisoning helped lead the way for the annexation of the Crimea.
Anti-Putin journalists are being killed in Russia.

Ten 10 Putin critics mysteriously murdered and one dead man walking
You could pass all of this off as coincidences, but there's too much there. Looking at the elections Putin runs in, and wins handsomely, because all his opponents are locked up, dead, or barred from running, shows he's ruthless.
He also knows how to play the west. The thing with the US elections, he wanted to be caught, but didn't want anyone to have the evidence to prove it.
That's his style. They know it's Russia but they can't prove it. Then Russia says "it could have come from somewhere else" "you can't prove it" blah blah.
In Russia is makes no difference, proof or not, Putin's not going anywhere. But in the west it matters.
The UK was right to say it's Russia, because it's damn obvious, even without 100% proof, that it's Russia.
Who else would kill a retired Russian spy in the UK?
