When the "individual mandate" (a dog whistle to gays?) was taken away in the tax cut bill, the ACA was no longer viable legally, forget what a disaster it's been from the beginning. Barry claims the appellate courts will reaffirm it but they won't, can't because the key funding (extortion) element was removed. How many insurers/plans are left to choose from? It was never intended to work....destroy the system, replace it with something worse, then go single-payer. Medical bankruptcies were a problem and obviously healthcare wasn't working for the poor...but you don't destroy the whole system to take care of high costs....you lower the costs by dealing with what made them high.....Lawsuits, resulting in unneeded tests so doctors and hospitals couldn't be held liable for mistakes drove costs through the roof. But insurance companies were never given the right to sell policies in any state instead of the monopolies granted exclusive territories. It was done, finished, until McCain went over the hill because he hated Trump.

Bizarre ruling but Roberts was a Bush hire and the Bush family was notorious for naming turncoats to the USSC. Now, the mandate was legally removed by an act of Congress in the tax cut bill, so the ACA is no longer a legal entity...the judge was correct to strike it down and should have issued an immediate injunction against further enrollment....which expired yesterday, so it's done.
