Democrats Want You To Believe Lincoln Wasn't A Real Republican. Like Usual, They're Wrong
You've probably heard a Democrat say "If Lincoln were alive, he'd be a Democrat." Here's why that's a bunch of BS.

The problem is no one really knows much about Lincoln. Yes, he was racist. During the famous Lincoln Douglas debates he clearly inferred that he believed blacks were inferior to whites and that the best solution was to ship them back to Africa. Interesting that the OP video jumps into the 20th century to claim the Republican party is the same.
He was a protectionist, which is actually the opposite view of most conservatives, although they threw their free market credentials away in supporting Trump's tariffs. I mean he was so much of a protectionist that he famously jumped out of a second story window to avoid a quorum call on a vote concerning subsidies to the railroads.
But the real picture of Lincoln can be seen in the Republican national convention of 1860. It was a shit show, and plagued with back room deals and back stabbing. It set the foundation for the modern Republican conventions--a banner week for prostitutes across the country, as school girls were paid for escorting so called "gentlemen" into the convention.
It is really kind of comical. The Trump supporters want to trot out Lincoln, and yet there were some under-handed things going on concerning the vote counting during the nomination vote. When the deadline came the secretary of the party said that the paperwork necessary to tabulate the votes was not ready. Seward would have been nominated that very night, but since the paperwork was not ready, it didn't happen. Then magically, the next morning, the paperwork was ready and Lincoln won.
I mean this is a level of "fraud" that is more like Mondale beating Reagan than Biden beating Trump. Seward had at least two thirds of the delegates in the bag, and yet the little known Lincoln, from the state of the convention, that was the first convention to be broadcast nationally and plagued with local residents taking spectator seats, ended up with the nomination. The reality is Lincoln was a crook, a fraudster, a manipulator, He was mentally ill, and only continued to decline in his mental facilities as his term progressed. Come to think about it, Trump may very well be the modern day Lincoln.
