Update: Apparently after public backlash, they have decided not to cancel George Washington after all and have blamed the whole thing on Lori Lightfoot, even though it was they who were doing it.

Why hate Washington and all the founding fathers?

I know they claim to blame them removing them because they were colonizers, slave owners and whatever other rubbish they want.

But they are American icons because they are symbols of strength, tenacity, willpower, desire, ambition, dedication, vision and more. They built the free and wonderful country we all now live in and enjoy, everything we have in America and as Americans is because of them.

So they aren't perfect and did some not so pleasent things, well that's all people who forge and create like they did. Especially back then, they were tough and hard men that made tough and hard decisions because that time was tough and hard.

So maybe it's ok we overlook their imperfections and maybe instead focus on what they symbolize for America and tip our hat to the people who gave us this country hundreds of years ago.

If you hate even the sight of a founding father then perhaps you shouldn't lie in America then. If you can't appreciate and be modestly thankful for the founding fathers then you shouldn't live in the home they gave you.
