Democrats demand women be drafted

I suppose I miss some things but no one is being drafted and I've seen very little of anyone pushing anything.

First, of course, "we" have to reinstate the draft.

Second, "we" have to define military jobs (MOS's, if you please) that are exclusively male, and possibly some that are exclusively female.

Then establish a "recruiting" target for each, in each fiscal year. Then "we" identify all 18's who meet the minimal criteria for induction, and on some random basis, select a sufficient number (+ 5%?) who will be drafted, and have a 2-year commitment.

It doesn't seem complicated to me.

Should draftees get the same compensation as volunteers? I think so.

Remember the concept of "canon fodder." In making ours an "all-volunteer" armed Forces, we have minimized the 18's and 19's who usually provide the foot soldiers that we put in harm's way. Now we don't have many of them, and many of the low-rank enlisted folks have wives and kids. Not appropriate for canon fodder.

i'm sure we are talking about registration, and in that case since boys must register, what constitutional basis could there be not to treat girls equally???:

draftees get the same training as enlistees . the hierarchy is based on rank, not "previous condition of servitude."

Women SHOULD be required to sign up for Selective Service just like young men are. If they actually want equality, then they must expect both an equality of the unpleasant parts of life as well as the good stuff.

We used to do that years ago. There is no going back.

Registration to do what? Not merely to be in the military, so carry it forward.

Sure. If men have to register for the draft why shouldn’t women?

My son and daughter both served in the US Army. My son-in-law served in the Air force and my daughter-in-law served in the Army. I have two grandsons and one granddaughter. Why should be exempt from the draft if they are not? That being said, there will never be another draft. We should just do away with the selective service system altogether as it is an anachronism.

If we ever had to fight the Russians especially in the Arctic in Alaska, I don't think we could win without a draft. Look at what has happened in Ukraine, if it hadn't been for the militia and draftees the Ukrainian professional army would have been wiped out by now. The samething could happen to our army it's just not that big,

No, I think it says more about the strength of Ukrainians; they will just sacrifice like we are not willing to sacrifice; they will suffer like we will not suffer. They have replacements for their army I'm not sure we do. I think the government should at lease have some kind of a test draft just to see if people will show up, I'm not certain they will.

I agree with the spirit of your post. However, I don't think that historically women were expressly forbidden from joining the army (correct me if wrong). They simply did not sign up because it never entered into their minds. I am thinking of Joan of Arc. She led an army. She was a prominent case of a woman in the military.

Back then, did they actively turn away the few women who did try to get into the army?

They simply did not sign up because it never entered into their minds. I am thinking of Joan of Arc. She led an army. She was a prominent case of a woman in the military.

I DON’T WANT women in the military, even though they’ve been allowed to enlist for decades now.

What I do want is for women to be required to meet the same qualifications and expectations as the men they claim they want to be equal to.
