'After finding NOTHING illegal or inappropriate in the firing of the IG, Democrats are once again 'going fishing'...

:p

"House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel(D-N.Y.) and Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, announced Friday they are expanding their investigation into the firing of State Department Inspector General Steve Linick."

Democrats already demanded a reason why Linick was fired, to which the President responded by declaring he “no longer” had “the fullest confidence” in the inspector general"....which is all the reason / explanation he is required to give or needs to give.

This is another pathetic ploy by desperate Trump-hating Democrats who have already gone down this road before ... and LOST ... when they challenged Comey and other disloyal Obama-hold-overs who have attempted to undermine the President and his Cabinet. Like before, they will waste Govt time and tax dollars only to lose AGAIN.

Factually incorrect.

From the article............"Lawmakers in both parties have asked the White House to explain Linick’s firing but have received little information. (so they haven't had a chance to thoroughly investigate yet)

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who wrote a sternly worded letter to Trump earlier this month demanding a more detailed explanation for Linick’s ouster, said a five-page response received from White House counsel Pat Cipollone this week didn’t provide enough information."

The statute protecting IG's calls for the WH to give a 30 day advanced notice before removal and an explanation as to what specific cause justifies removal. Trump did not meet the 30 day notice requirement.

When Obama fired an IG, then explained why in a detailed letter to Congress, Repubs launched a 5 month investigation anyway.
