The mayor committed trespass by stepping onto the property, however, burglary is defined as: Illegally entering a building or other areas "to commit a crime."
My curiosity is beyond illegally entering the house, what crime was he committing to qualify as burglary? Was he walking out with some items?

You do that by looking at public records and contacting the owner to see if they have any interest in selling, not by trespassing and stealing their property.

This is the GA law and what he was charged with besides trespassing:
A person commits the offense of burglary in the first degree when, without authority and with the intent to commit a felony or theft therein, he or she enters or remains within an occupied, unoccupied, or vacant dwelling house of another or any building, vehicle, railroad car, watercraft, aircraft, or other such structure designed for use as the dwelling of another. A person who commits the offense of burglary in the first degree shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than 20 years.

It seems that this member of the Democratic Socialist Party just couldn't help but cave to his base nature to commit crimes. These types usually refine their crimes once in political office and just commit your average, day-to-day fraud or pay-to-play schemes but this particular top citizen decided to return to his old games.

Why? If things are going so well then why would a mayor of all people resort to this act? Seems to me they really do believe they are above the law, and that there is no consequences for those who hold power, as he see's by his party leader. In the Mob, the low level thugs have that same invincible cocky attitude that "I can do anything"" cause everyone's in their pockets or "intimidated" and they see there is no consequences to their mob bosses.
