Decriminalizing Drugs Doesn't Work

So much for the argument that decriminalizing drugs doesn't work.

Mexico decriminalized small abounts of marijuana, cocaine, meth, LSD, and heroin back in 2009. Apparently that did nothing to stop the murders, kidnappings, and production.

That's a model of decriminalized possession, but not cultivation....Mass cultivation is still a crime, unless you're a member in good standing of the gubmint distribution cartel.

In Colorado, you're allowed to grow your own stash....What's the level of cartel criminality there?

Pretty high.

The War on Drugs resulted in a prison population of 2.5 million
It was a massive failure

Decriminalization has been a success and we just need to resolve supply issues to keep out the criminal element

That's distribution....I'm strictly talking about cultivation.

The distribution problem is a product of the "legalize it and tax it" bliss ninnies, I found myself debating back in the 90s...The gubmint foolishly thought that they had a golden goose in the "legalize and tax" racket, which served to drive prices up....The small-time dealer stayed in business through lower prices.

What's the level of stupidity and other crime is the question as it soars up with the drug abuse.

When you criminalize drugs you are only making sure that criminals control the supply of a valuable commodity. People are going to use drugs as long as modern life continues to suck.

The high degree of taxation and regulation in the Grass industry insures that gangsters are still going to be involved. It costs a lot of money for all the licenses needed and a big percentage of the revenue is skimmed by the government. Skipping those steps creates a nice potential profit margin, much like it does with smuggled ciggies.
