A contentious battle is brewing in Dearborn, Michigan, over a mosque's use of an outdoor loudspeaker for its call to prayer.

One resident spoke at Tuesday's city council meeting, presenting a signed petition over the speaker at the Dearborn Community Center on Schaefer Road.

Andrea Unger cited a city ordinance, which states that people are prohibited from creating "the continuance of any unreasonably loud, disturbing, unusual or unnecessary noise which annoys, disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others within the limits of the city."

"The mosques in East Dearborn are at times waking us up at 5:30 a.m. with a call to prayer and, at other times, forcing us to listen to the prayer in our yard and in our own home," Unger said in the meeting.

Absolutely. But America welcomed in a horde of Muslims who settled in Dearborn, elected a Muslim mayor, and they feel they have the right to disturb the peace and violate noise ordinances.

The same thing will happen in NYC when they elect a Muslim mayor there. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Muslim-controlled NYC government gives permission for Muslims to build a mosque at the foot of the World Trade Center.

Our problem is those damned Jews. 100,000 Hasidic and Orthodox Jews have moved in, taken over the elections, zoning boards, school boards. Bought up real estate and had it rezoned as synagogues and yeshivas. Drove up the welfare rolls and taxes.

Any laws we can pass to keep Jews out?

The Bill of Rights doesn’t give Muslims the right to violate noise ordinances, instituted for all people to enjoy peace and quiet at 5:30 a.m., by blaring an Islamic call to prayer over a loudspeaker.
